A Little Bit of a Surprise

According to this article, Michael Jackson's kids are surprising normal for being the kids of the King of Pop:

Really neat.

Strike Force 7 "Blister Pack" Character Sheet

Mike, aka [info]mscjec put a character sheet together for Strike Force 7 - Savaged! that draws inspiration from the command card found on the back of a certain line of action figures. I tweaked it a bit and then uploaded it to the Super Genius website and you can download it here:

http://www.supergeniusgames.com/files/sf7-blister.pdf

I'll also be working on a new series of articles that use this sheet in the coming weeks. We'll also be releasing the first SF 7 - Savaged! One Sheet on Friday.

As always, you can download SF 7 - Savaged! at both RPGNow.com and DriveThruRPG.com.

One More Class Down

Today was the last day of my Integrated Business Topics class. We did SWOTT analysis, strategic planning, Balanced Scorecards and Communication Plans. Everything was wrapped up into the final Strategic Plan due tonight. It was a fun class and really helped gel some ideas that have been floating around in the back of my head.

A Quiet Day

Thing 1 leaves this coming Thursday for a month in Uruguay with my parents. It'll not only be his first international trip other than Mexico, but it'll be the longest he's been away from the family for longer than a week. He's putting up a brave face but he's also been spending a lot of time with Thing 4, who I know is going to miss him the most. (Out of the kids)

Meanwhile, Thing 2 is spending the next few days with my parents and the daughter of a family friend who's visiting them as well. She really needs some "girly" time and this was a perfect opportunity we couldn't pass up. Thing 2 will be there until Thursday, and Ceci, the family friend leaves Wednesday evening. I'm exciting to hear how the girl time went. Thing 2 really misses not having a sister and this should be good for her.

On the Public Health Plan Option

Put me down as cautiously for the public plan. I think it needs to happen in order to get costs down and get people covered.

One fear I have though is what's to stop employers from dropping their health plans altogether and making people join the public plan? In the end whether or not you like you health plan, it's not up to you if you get to keep it, it's up to your employer. When I worked for Upper Deck I had 3 different insurance companies over 5 years. What's to keep Upper Deck from dropping their plan to save money? Is there a tax penalty? A fee of some kind? Inquiring minds need to know!

An Interesting Day...

The day started out on an interesting note. For the 2nd day in a row I woke up around 2:30 and couldn't go back to sleep until around 5. I then slept until around 8, when everyone started getting ready to go see the free movie at the local Regal Theaters. (During the summer the Regal theater chain shows a free kid friendly movie at 10am) During the movie Annie started feeling sick and it was clear she had contracted what I had over the weekend. After the movie she came home and rested while I did the Mr. Mom thing. To make life even more interesting, while in the middle of cooking dinner the oven caught fire and that had to be dealt with. It was an electrical fire of some sort, but regardless, the oven is hosed. Dinner ended up being cooked in the microwave, and everything turned out ok, even the cake I had planned. Still, it's going to be interesting until the landlord replaces the oven or gets it fixed.

All in all I'm horribly behind on a bunch of projects. Hopefully I can catch up a little once the Things are in bed.

Flying in Style...

I'm getting to GenCon in a roundabout way this year. I've got 41,000 American Airlines miles, but needed 50,000 for a roundtrip ticket. 8000 extra miles would have cost me $200, nearly the price of the ticket all by itself, at least, it would have, a month ago, when I first looked. Now it's more like $350 for a roundtrip ticket. Still, those miles were going to expire at the end of July and I really wanted to use them. So I did, I used 25,000 miles for a one way ticket and then used Priceline for a one way ticket home. All in all the trip is going to cost be $110, $105 for the trip home and $5 to use my FF miles.

The best part?

My flight in, using my miles, is First Class. Woot!

Good High Level Adventures

I'm looking for a kick ass D&D adventure for somewhere around levels 20-23. I've got my eye on the new Empire of Ghouls, but don't know anything about it other than being an updated version of the one written by Wolf Baur.

Any ideas LJ-land?

So True!

Here's a secret, writer's don't spend all day "writing", it doesn't mean they're not working though:

Act Like a Caveman Day!

This week is scout camp and the theme is "Scouts Dig Dinosaurs". The first day was busy with registration and visits from archaeologists, but yesterday I donned my costume, grabbed my fire-hardened stick and made like a caveman. It was a blast, especially once I got the fake teeth. Today is more of the same and it should be a blast.

Going to Be a Weird Week...

This week is Cub Scout Camp and the kids are all spending the week there for most of the day. Thing 1 is the actual cub scout, while the others are "Chipmunks" which is just a way of letting them take part in the activities. We've been lucky that over the past few years to get all of the kid in for free because Annie is the camp nurse and usually helps out in other ways. This year she spent the past few weeks sewing 250 caveman costumes for the kids as the theme is "Cub Scouts and Dinosaurs". I'll also be helping out as a visiting caveman, which should be a lot of fun. No caveman today though because today they get introduced to dinosaurs and cavemen from a group of archaeologists from UC San Diego.
